On 1 Jan­uary 1981, Mother Teresa MC, No­bel Lau­re­ate, in­au­gu­rated the St. An­drew's Col­lege of Arts, Sci­ence and Com­merce. The col­lege was started when Arch­bishop Si­mon Pi­menta felt the need for a new Catholic col­lege in the sub­urbs that would of­fer cour­ses like BA, BCom and BSc. The first phase of the con­struc­tion of 18 class­rooms of the col­lege was com­pleted in June 1986 and solemnly blessed on St. An­drew's Feast Day, 30 Novem­ber 1986
