ISB dou­bles schol­ar­ships for 2013 batch to crore

The In­dian School of Busi­ness (ISB) has dou­bled its schol­ar­ships from R4 crore to R8 crore for the 2013 batch. Through this in­creased out­lay, one in ev­ery seven stu­dents study­ing at the school will re­ceive schol­ar­ships of 25-50% of the to­tal tu­ition fee.

The schol­ar­ships will be awarded on both merit and fi­nan­cial need ba­sis.

Ig­nou, IL&FS join hands for skills pro­gramme

IL&FS Ed­u­ca­tion has inked a pact with the New Del­hibased Indira Gandhi National Open Univer­sity (Ig­nou) to bring a spe­cial ed­u­ca­tion and skills pro­gramme that trains an in­di­vid­ual in dif­fer­ent aspects of the job. This is aimed at nar­row­ing down the huge tal­ent deficit in the ed­u­ca­tion sec­tor.

Known as Ig­nou-IL&FS Ed­u­ca­tion, it has in­tro­duced two train­ers’ train­ing pro­grammes that will qual­ify an in­di­vid­ual to work in govern­ment and non-govern­ment sec­tors. The group has launched cer­ti­fi­ca­tion cour­ses that will cater to the re­quire­ment in national egov­er­nance pro­grammes and the so­cial sec­tor.

VN Ra­jasekha­ran Pil­lai, vice chan­cel­lor of Ig­nou, said: “These pro­fes­sional pro­grammes will be valu­able for the dif­fer­ent sec­tors that will boost em­ploy­ment prospects for can­di­dates even at the post grad­u­ate level.”

The pro­grammes in­volve in­ten­sive class­room teach­ing.
