IPU to ac­cept NEET scores for med­i­cal cour­ses

In­draprastha Univer­sity an­nounces that ad­mis­sion to MBBS, BDS and PG med­i­cal cour­ses will be through the na­tional test

As­pi­rants plan­ning to ap­ply for MBBS, BDS and PG med­i­cal cour­ses at Delhi’s Guru Gobind Singh In­draprastha Univer­sity (GGSIPU) will now be se­lected on the ba­sis of a na­tional en­trance test.

The Delhi government has de­cided - fol­low­ing a re­quest by the Cen­tral government’s min­istry of health - that MBBS, BDS and PG med­i­cal ap­pli­cants would be fil­tered in through the new Na­tional El­i­gi­bil­ity-cum-En­trance Test (NEET).

So, those vy­ing for seats in Vardhman Ma­havir Med­i­cal Col­lege, the Post­grad­u­ate In­sti­tute of Med­i­cal Ed­u­ca­tion and Re­search, RML Hospi­tal; and the ESIC Dental Col­lege and Hospi­tal now need give the univer­sity their NEET scores along with the NEET reg­is­tra­tion num­ber.

On May 5, 2013 (on May 18 in Kar­nataka due to state elec­tions), the Cen­tral Board of Sec­ondary Ed­u­ca­tion is go­ing hold the first NEET-un­der­grad­u­ate for MBBS and BDS seats in all med­i­cal and dental col­leges coun­try­wide ap­proved by the Med­i­cal Coun­cil of In­dia and the Dental Coun­cil of In­dia, re­spec­tively. NEETPG 2013 has al­ready been con­ducted by the Na­tional Board of Ex­am­i­na­tions in 2012.

The univer­sity, how­ever, will con­tinue to take on can­di­dates for the BHMS and su­per­spe­cial­ity pro­grammes through its own en­trance test.
