NEW DELHI: A 27-year-old man committed suicide by hanging from a ceiling fan, at his rented home in south Delhi’s Bhikaji Cama Place near RK Puram on Friday.

Police said the man was under severe depression as he was unemployed and his wife often insulted him for not having a job. No suicide note was recovered.

The deceased, Prince Chawla, lived with his wife Priya at their rented home. On Friday, Priya found him hanging from a ceiling fan and alerted the neighbours who called the police control room, said police. Chawla was rushed to a nearby hospital where doctors pronounced him dead on admission. His body was handed over to family after autopsy.

Chawla’s family members blamed his wife for allegedly forcing him to take the extreme step. His mother told the police that her son had a love marriage with Priya around three years ago. As his family members were unhappy with his decision, the couple moved into a rented home. Police said his mother told them that she last met her son a few weeks ago at his father’s funeral.
