Tan­za­nian ar­rested with heroin

NEWDELHI: The Nar­cotics Con­trol Bu­reau(ncb) on Wed­nes­day caught a 31-year-old Tan­za­nian ci­ti­zen who was smug­gling around 4.8 kilo­gram of heroin. NCB’S Delhi zonal di­rec­tor Madho Singh said they re­ceived in­for­ma­tion about the man who was ar­riv­ing from Mum­bai at the IGI air­port.

Singh said dur­ing surveil- lance Bray­ton Ni­cholaus Ly­imo was spot­ted at the ar­rival Hall of Ter­mi­nal 1.

Of­fi­cer Singh said Ly­imo was car­ry­ing two bags. “Dur­ing check­ing, an off white pow­dery sub­stance, be­lieved to be heroin (4.8Kg) was found packed in brown colour en­velopes cov­ered and con­cealed in bed sheets and kept in his reg­is­tered trol­ley bag,” said Singh.

Po­lice said Ly­imo con­fessed dur­ing in­ter­ro­ga­tion that he had come from Ad­dia Ababa and landed at the Mum­bai air­port on Mon­day. NCB of­fi­cials said the man con­fessed he was handed the con­tra­band in Tan­za­nia and had to hand to a Nige­rian man in Delhi.

NCB of­fi­cials said this is Ly­imo’s sec­ond visit to the coun­try in two months. Zonal Di­rec­tor Singh said Ly­imo had come to In­dia on a tourist visa. Ly­imo, of­fi­cials said, run a gar­ments busi­ness in Tan­za­nia.
