2 LYNCHED FOR ‘CATTLE LIFTING’ IN JHARKHAND

RANCHI/BEHRAMPORE: Two Muslim men were allegedly beaten to death on Wednesday in Jharkhand over rumours that they were cattle thieves while a man was lynched by a mob in West Bengal on suspicions that he was a child abductor.

In Jharkhand’s tribal-dominated Godda district, local villagers allegedly caught hold of the two men, accusing them of being cattle thieves, and assaulted them. Four people were arrested.

In Bengal’s Malda district, police said a man in his thirties who appeared to be homeless was allegedly tied to an electricit­y pole by a mob that confronted him.

Police confirmed the incident and said three people were arrested.
