NEWDELHI: The Aam Aadmi Party on Saturday said it has sought time from Prime Minister Narendra Modi to discuss the issue of full statehood for Delhi.

In a letter to the PM, AAP’S Delhi unit convener Gopal Rai said that the party has collected 10 lakh letters addressed to Modi demanding full statehood for the national Capital. Rai sought an appointment with the PM for August 17 at 11 am.

“For decades Delhiites have demanded full statehood. In relation to this issue, people of Delhi have written 10 lakh letters to you appealing full statehood for the city. The AAP has always supported Delhiites in giving them their right of full statehood. AAP demands that the people of Delhi are able to exercise this right of theirs,” Rai wrote in his letter.
