Indiaaustralia rivalry dissected ahead of series Down Under
NEWDELHI: The belief in the Australian way of playing cricket – ultra-aggressive and sledging — is at its lowest since the ball-tampering scandal in March. The restraint though is likely to be tested when India tour from November 21.
There have been many flash points in contests with India in the last three decades, which will be in a twopart TV series. ‘2 Nations, 1 Obsession’ will focus on the 1986 tied Test in Chennai, India’s thrilling comeback home series win in 2001, Australia ending a 35-year wait for a series win in India in 2004, and the ‘Monkeygate’ row on India’s 2007-08 tour.
The series will be premiered on Fox Cricket on Nov 21 and 22. It has been made by Peter Dickson, who collaborated with Cricket Australia for the 2017-18 Ashes film series, ‘Forged in Fire’. Sunil Gavaskar, Kapil Dev and Bishan Singh Bedi as well as Allan Border, Adam Gilchrist and Greg Chappell are among those interviewed.
The Harbhajanandrew Symonds row hit 20078 series.
