nGHAZIABAD/NOIDA: Restrictions on the movement of vehicles on the Delhi-uttar Pradesh border in Noida and Ghaziabad will continue even as the state government announced fresh guidelines under Centre’s Unlock 2 -- second of a three-phase plan aimed at lifting restrictions imposed to stop the spread of the coronavirus disease (Covid-19).

Ghaziabad and Gautam Budh Nagar administrations had imposed restrictions on their borders with Delhi, allowing movement only for those involved in essential services, those having valid passes issued by district administration, authorisation letters from their offices or certain category of professionals having valid identification cards.

Uttar Pradesh chief secretary RK Tiwari issued an order late

Tuesday night, detailing the guidelines. The order also said that there will be no intra-state or inter-state restriction on movement of persons or goods/commodities. But it also clarified that activities outside the containment zones can be restricted on the basis of evaluation at local level.

“As per directions, we have written for getting the views of the police and health department officials and they have been requested to submit a fresh assessment report. We have their previous recommendation and the status quo will continue till we get fresh data from the departments. Any further decision will be taken up on the basis of crossborder infection cases,” said Suhas LY, district magistrate of Gautam Budh Nagar.

The Gautam Budh Nagar shares its borders with Delhi at DND flyway, Mayur Vihar,

Kalindi Kunj, Jhundpura and Kondli areas.

“The border restrictions are in place and we take up regular checks,” said Ranvijay Singh, Noida’s additional DCP.

District administration officials of Ghaziabad also said that the ongoing restriction will continue under Unlock 2.0 till July 31.

“We will continue with present directions regarding the restrictions till July 31 or till further orders,” said Ajay Shankar Pandey, district magistrate, Ghaziabad.

Ghaziabad shares borders with Delhi at Up-gate, Anand Vihar-kaushambi, Seemapuri and at several spots in Loni.

“Random checking is in place and barricades are also put up for checks. Nowadays, there is no issue of traffic jam at border,” said Manish Mishra, superintendent of police (city), Ghaziabad.
