Battle of home chefs and culinary pros while celebrating the love of food
The new show on Zee Café, The Chef ’s Line is an ultimate competition show wherein home chefs will battle against culinary professionals. Moving up the Chef ’s line is any aspiring chef ’s ultimate objective. On his own experience of moving up the Chef ’s line, Dan Hong says, “It wasn’t easy. Long hours, working and getting yelled at when everybody is partying. But I am living proof that if you work hard, you will be rewarded.”
Speaking about the contestants on the show he adds, “The contestants were amazing and very passionate. A lot of the contestants had their heritage as their lethal weapon which in my opinion was a major advantage over the chefs with cuisines like Lebanese, Indian and African food. One contestant during Indian week was just so passionate, and it resonated in her cooking.”
The show talks about 13 different world cuisines. When asked about the importance of versatility in cooking, Melissa Leong answered, “Versatility, as well as variety, as they say, are the spices of life! A great cook or chef uses what they have at their disposal and to be versatile is to show your capability and understanding. The only must-haves when it came to the cooks and chefs on The Chefs’ Line, was a good sporting attitude, a sense of humour and the ability to communicate their love of food through their cooking and the energy they bring to the show.”
According to Leong, the USP of the show is the celebration of the universal connection that food brings to the table.
She says, “There’s no crazy scripted drama, just real people who love to cook and are passionate enough to show the world what they can do. Professional or home cook, the joy of cooking and eating is universal.”
Sharing his views, Mark Olive says, “I love the diversity of regional delicacies that India offers and will be experimenting fusing Australian and Indian flavours together.”
I’m very excited to see The Chefs’ Line being shown in India. Indian cuisine was one of the featured episodes.
