Neeraj Pandey doc­u­ments be­hind the scenes of his new film in a book

Diljit Dosanjh, who stars with big names from Bol­ly­wood in his next film, talks about his ex­pe­ri­ence and cri­te­ria for se­lect­ing roles

Ahead of the re­lease of Aiyaary, film­maker Neeraj Pandey has un­veiled a be­hind-the-scenes tes­ti­mony of the on set ac­tion of the film. While it’s com­mon for films to re­lease be­hindthe-scene footage from the set, Pandey has made pub­lic a writ­ten ac­count from the sets of the team.

The Na­tional Award­win­ning di­rec­tor launched the book ti­tled Aiyaary: The Jour­ney along with the film’s ac­tors Manoj Ba­j­payee, Sid­harth Mal­ho­tra and Rakul Preet Singh in Delhi on Fe­bru­ary 12. Speak­ing about the book, Pandey says, “It was some­thing we try to do with all our pro­duc­tions. The book is our way of pre­serv­ing the mem­o­ries that we make while film­ing a project.”

The helmer of ac­claimed films like A Wed­nes­day (2008), Spe­cial 26 (2013), Baby (2015), Pandey has de­liv­ered some of the most cel­e­brated films of In­dian Cinema and his films are known to be in­spired by real in­ci­dents. Tak­ing for­ward his method­ol­ogy of film­mak­ing in Aiyaary, Pandey has not only shot in real army lo­ca­tions of Kash­mir, In­dia Gate in Delhi as well as the Lon­don Bridge, but has also got the Army uni­forms from au­then­tic Army sup­pli­ers.

Also star­ring Naseerudin Shah and Anu­pam Kher, the film pro­duced by Reliance En­ter­tain­ment, PEN Stu­dios & Fri­day Film­works is set to re­lease on Fe­bru­ary 16.
