Two men open fire in Shakurpur

-

Three men, including two sanitation workers, suffered gunshot wounds after two bikeborne men opened fire outside a home in Shakurpur near Subhash Place in northwest Delhi on Tuesday night. Police suspect that personal enmity or rivalry between two groups could be the reason behind the firing.

A police officer said that locals told them that five rounds were fired by the assailants. The injured men were sitting outside a home when the firing took place. One of the injured had been hit by a bullet on his chest, while the other was hit in his leg. The third man had a narrow escape, as the bullet grazed past his body. All the injured were later rushed to a nearby hospital, where the condition of one of them was stated to be critical.

Two of injured were identified as Rajesh, 42, and Ajay,35, by the police. The identity of third man could not be ascertained till late in the evening. A case of attempt to murder and under Arms act was registered at the Subhash Place police station.

“Initial probe revealed that around a month ago, Rajesh had an altercation with his neighbour Ravi over some issue. Rajesh and Ajay had thrashed Ravi then and the latter had vowed to take revenge,” said the officer.
