Four men were killed on the streets of Delhi in two separate accidents involving motorcycles in the last 24 hours, police said on Thursday.

Police said that a speeding truck had been identified as the cause for one of the mishaps.

According to the police, one of the accidents took place around 2.20am on Thursday. Two people, identified as Mohit Yadav (an engineering student) and Jatin Pawar (a businessman), who were on a two-wheeler were hit by an allegedly speeding truck in outer Delhi’s Samaipur Badli.

The accident was witnessed by Anil, a private driver employed by Delhi Police.

“The truck suddenly swerved while trying to overtake the twowheeler from the left and hit the vehicle,” said Anil in his statement to the police..

Anil, meanwhile, chased the truck for one kilometre and nabbed the driver. The two injured men were taken to a hospital by PCR staff, but they could not be saved.

Earlier, two men were killed and another was critically injured after their motorcycle was involved in a hit-and-run incident on the Punjabi Bagh Flyover in west Delhi on Wednesday morning. The men were residents of Shakur Basti.
