Kejri wants plan for overhaul of bus system in 6 months

Hindustan Times (Gurugram) - - Metro -

NEWDELHI:Chief minister Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday directed transport officials to submit a new report in six months on rationalising bus routes .

The move comes after the government faced flak from the green court for not upgrading the bus system in the city.

Kejriwal now has asked Delhi Integrated Multi-Modal Transit System (DIMTS) to draft a new comprehensive route rationalisation plan of all buses, including the Metro feeder service.

It was also decided that a pilot project on this would be conducted in Najafgarh, which happens to be transport minister Kailash Gahlot’s constituency. The report for the pilot project has to be submitted by January 1.

“DIMTS gave a presentation to the CM who asked them to update the route rationalisation report of 2010-11 by conducting a fresh study. It has to be completed in six months time,” said an official present in the meeting.
