₹1.6 lakh in fake notes seized from man in Daryaganj
NEW DELHI: Delhi Police Crime Branch seized counterfeit notes of ₹2,000 adding up to ₹1.6 lakh from a man in Daryaganj.
The accused, Munish Ahmad, was arrested on January 14. Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch) Alok Kumar said that efforts are being made to identify the associates of the accused and the source of the counterfeit currency notes.
Ahmad hails from Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh. He is allegedly involved in supplying of counterfeit Indian currency notes across Delhi by procuring it from Bihar and West Bengal.
“As per investigation, it has emerged that such fine quality counterfeit notes are routed to Delhi/NCR from Bangladesh via West Bengal and Patna (Bihar),” said Kumar.
