₹1.6 lakh in fake notes seized from man in Darya­ganj

NEW DELHI: Delhi Po­lice Crime Branch seized coun­ter­feit notes of ₹2,000 adding up to ₹1.6 lakh from a man in Darya­ganj.

The accused, Mu­n­ish Ah­mad, was ar­rested on Jan­uary 14. Joint Com­mis­sioner of Po­lice (Crime Branch) Alok Ku­mar said that ef­forts are be­ing made to iden­tify the as­so­ciates of the accused and the source of the coun­ter­feit cur­rency notes.

Ah­mad hails from Ghazi­abad in Ut­tar Pradesh. He is al­legedly in­volved in sup­ply­ing of coun­ter­feit In­dian cur­rency notes across Delhi by procur­ing it from Bi­har and West Ben­gal.

“As per in­ves­ti­ga­tion, it has emerged that such fine qual­ity coun­ter­feit notes are routed to Delhi/NCR from Bangladesh via West Ben­gal and Patna (Bi­har),” said Ku­mar.
