When we talk about de­lec­ta­ble pip­ing hot rolls, the first name that comes to mind is Rule the

Rolls. Founded by Haji Banda Hasan, who started mak­ing Mugh­lai food in the Jama Masjid area of Old Delhi in the 1960s, it has won mil­lions of hearts since then by serv­ing de­lec­ta­ble food.

Over the years, he started a fu­sion of rolls with modern fast food while main­tain­ing the health fac­tor. The joint also claims to be the first one to in­tro­duce roomali rolls.

The le­gacy is now be­ing carried for­ward by his sons, Mo­ham­mad Javed and Saleem, who are to­gether manag­ing the jour­ney of the age-old recipes of Haji Banda Hasan at Rule the Rolls.

The joint of­fers mouth­wa­ter­ing veg­e­tar­ian and non­veg­e­tar­ian rolls and ke­babs along with suc­cu­lent burg­ers that in­clude Chicken Tikka, Chicken Seekh Ke­bab, Chicken Malai Tikka, Mut­ton Tikka, Mut­ton Seekh Ke­bab, Pa­neer Tikka, Fish Tikka Roomali Roti and Mut­ton Tikka Roomali Roti.

Talk­ing on the food, Mo­ham­mad Javed says, “We use home­made spices, fresh meat and chicken which is cooked in a tra­di­tional way, which means us­ing char­coal. Our in­gre­di­ents are sim­ple and fresh that makes our food very light.”

Saleem says, “Our rolls are very pop­u­lar—our father used wheat-based roomali to make rolls. We are still us­ing the same, which helps to make the rolls lighter and health­ier. We don't use oil or ghee, which makes it healthy food. Af­ter a great re­sponse from Gur­gaon now we are back to Khan Mar­ket.” Up­com­ing out­let for Rule the
