NOT AWARE OF SCRAPPING OF WATERS ACT CLAUSE 5: SUKHBIR

-

SBS NAGAR: Deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal said here on Wednesday that he was not aware of the scrapping of Clause 5 of the Punjab Termination of Agreements Act (PTAA), 2004. However, chief minister Parkash Singh Badal had announced at a sangat darshan in Nakodar that the government had scrapped the clause.

Sukhbir was speaking to mediapersons after a cheque-distribution function at Aur town of SBS Nagar district.

The CM had claimed that scrapping the clause was part of the party’s objective since 2007. It required Punjab to maintain the existing level of river waters supply to Haryana and Rajasthan.

On the AAP’s demand for approaching the Prime Minister to withdraw Presidential reference from the Supreme Court in the Sutlej-Yamuna Link canal issue, Sukhbir said the matter has now reached the court, so let it decide as it is a matter of three states.
