SIT REPORT STATES THAT THE WOMAN AND AMIT HAD EXCHANGED 4,176 CALLS

A special investigation team (SIT) has given clean chit to Amit Sampla, nephew of state BJP chief Vijay Sampla, in a harassment complaint.

The SIT was formed by city police after a 32-year-old woman had accused Amit Sampla of harassment on May 1.

The team has found nothing substantial against Sampla. However on the report of SIT, FIR has been registered against unidentified persons under Sections 323 , 341 and 379-B of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at sadar police station.

The woman in her complaint had alleged that she was beaten by Sampla and others on April 26 when she had gone to meet Amit and her phone was snatched by them. She had also accused Sampla of sexually harassing her.

SIT headed by ADCP-II D Sudarvizhi, along with ACP Deepika Singh and ACP Surinder Pal, has been investigating into the complaint.

SIT had recorded statements of Amit Sampla, his cousin and Vijay Sampla’s son Sahil Sampla and some other BJP leaders during the probe. In her complaint, the woman had alleged that she came in contact with Amit on March 23, 2016, through Facebook and they became friends.

The woman protested outside the police commissioner’s house over the clean chit.

The SIT report said that both woman and Amit had exchanged 4,176 calls.

As per the FIR as both were known to each other , so the physical relationship between them wouldhave been consensual.
