OFFICERS AS SCAPEGOATS

In the wake of fresh clashes between two communities in Saharanpur, the Uttar Pradesh government suspended senior superintendent of police and district magistrate and transferred other senior bureaucrats. In the system, political bigwigs expect government officials to toe the line and don’t even hesitate to take credit for latter’s work. The fact as to why political leaders fail to own up to unfavourable situations and instead use officers as scapegoats remains a mystery.
