Schools, col­leges at Sirsa dera to re­open to­mor­row af­ter 25 days

SIRSA : Af­ter a gap of over three weeks, more than 6,000 stu­dents study­ing at var­i­ous schools and col­leges of the Dera Sacha Sauda here will re­sume their stud­ies on Mon­day as the ed­u­ca­tion de­part­ment has de­cided to re-open th­ese in­sti­tu­tions with the re­turn of nor­malcy in the area.

The ed­u­ca­tional in­sti­tutes at the Dera Sacha Sauda head­quar­ters and the old dera were shut down by the ad­min­is­tra­tion af­ter cur­few was im­posed in the area on Au­gust 24, a day be­fore the con­vic­tion of dera head Gurmeet Ram Rahim in the rape case.

Talk­ing to HT, dis­trict ed­u­ca­tion of­fi­cer (DEO) Yagya­datt Verma con­firmed that the dera schools and col­leges will re-open on Mon­day af­ter 25 days. .

The DEO added, “There are about 1,800 stu­dents in the girls’ se­nior sec­ondary school, 1,600 in the boys se­nior sec­ondary school, 400 in MSG In­ter­na­tional School (all on dera cam­pus). Be­sides, there are 850 stu­dents at the boys’ col­lege, 1,100 at the girls’ col­lege and 50 stu­dents at the BEd col­lege in the dera.”
