DIG who revealed Sasikala’s jail bribe gets Prez medal
BENGALURU: Deputy inspector general Roopa D Moudgil was on Saturday conferred the President’s Medal for Meritorius Service at the Raj Bhavan here by governor Vajubhai Vala.
As DIG (prisons), Moudgil had spoken about the “preferential treatment” to jailed AIADMK leader VK Sasikala at Bengaluru central prison.
In a report to her superior officers, Moudgil said Sasikala had bribed the then deputy general of police (prisons) HN Sathyanarayana Rao for the preferential treatment.
Although an investigation was ordered, the probe team is yet to submit its report. Shortly after her revelation, Moudgil was transferred to the traffic and road safety department.
Speaking to HT, Moudgil said “it is a very big honour and I feel vindicated thanks to this.”
Moudgil said she felt bittersweet being the only woman officer to be honoured on the day.
