Woman raped for four months in Ahmedabad
TARNTARAN: A 35-year-old woman of Jhander village, 5km from the district headquarters, was allegedly kidnapped, confined and raped by a man in Ahmedabad for four months.
On the victim’s complaint, Sadar police have booked Harpreet Singh, 30, of the same village, who is absconding. The woman said, “On May 11, I went to the market for some domestic work.” “When I reached near Adda Jhander, Harpreet came on his bike and abducted me,” she said.
She said, “He took me to some unknown village in Ahmedabad by bus, confined me in a house there and raped me for four months. On September 16, I managed to escape from there and reached home.”
Assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Ranjit Kaur said a case under Sections 363 (punishment for kidnapping), 366 (kidnapping, abducting or inducing woman to compel her marriage), 376 (punishment for rape), 342 (punishment for wrongful confinement) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered. HTC
