Youth in­jured in Srinagar protest

SRINAGAR: A youth was se­ri­ously in­jured dur­ing clashes be­tween stone-pel­ters and po­lice in old city on Fri­day. While re­ports said the youth was hit by pel­lets fired by po­lice af­ter Fri­day prayers in Nawhatta, but po­lice main­tained that the cause of in­jury was de­bat­able. “We can’t be sure of what caused the in­jury ,” a po­lice of­fi­cer of Srinagar said.

The of­fi­cer said that they were tar­geted with stones by the youth as they were with­draw­ing from Nawhatta post the Fri­day prayers. Mean­while, re­stric­tions were im­posed in some parts of the city to pre­vent pro­ces­sions by Shia Mus­lims on Muhar­ram.HTC


SRINAGAR : A para­mil­i­tary CRPF trooper com­mit­ted suicide in Pam­pore on Fri­day. CRPF head con­sta­ble AK Das posted at the elec­tric grid sta­tion shot him­self with his ser­vice ri­fle.“The rea­sons for the trooper’s suicide are be­ing as­cer­tained. A case has been reg­is­tered in the in­ci­dent,” the po­lice added. IANS
