ROHTAK: In a joint ex­er­cise, the Odisha Po­lice and the Bhi­wani Po­lice ar­rested a cou­ple on the charge of dup­ing the Pub­lic Works Depart­ment (PWD) of around Rs 12 crore in many dis­tricts by win­ning ten­ders on forged doc­u­ments and flee­ing the state with­out com­plet­ing any work.

The po­lice said Bunty Ag­gar­wal, his wife Sabita and fa­ther Ra­jen­der Prasad ran a firm by the name of Suraj En­ter­prises. The firm is ac­cused of sub­mit­ting false term de­posit re­ceipts (TDRs) to bag con­tracts of sev­eral gov­ern­ment de­part­ments.

Ac­cord­ing to re­ports in the ocal Odisha me­dia, the cou­ple had com­mit­ted a forgery of Rs 12 crore in Bolan­gir, Kala­handi, Nua­pada and Kanta­banji dis­tricts. Ver­i­fi­ca­tion by gov­ern­ment de­part­ments had re­vealed that the firm had submitted 48 fake TDRs to win dif­fer­ent con­tracts. An FIR was reg­is­tered against the firm on Oc­to­ber 9.
