Kabaddi player moves women’s panel against her par­ents

RO­HTAK:Na­tional Kabaddi player Preeti has filed a com­plaint against her par­ents al­leg­ing that her fam­ily is press­ing her to get mar­ried de­spite her will­ing­ness to con­tinue her stud­ies and sports. Preeti, a res­i­dent of Ma­ha­vati vil­lage of Pa­ni­pat, is putting up in Ro­htak to pur­sue her BA from Vaish Col­lege. Her fam­ily has been liv­ing in Kar­nal for four years.

She has al­leged that her fa­ther came to Ro­htak in Septem­ber last year and forcibly took her to Kar­nal, where they set­tled her re­la­tion­ship with a man, much older than her.

On her re­fusal, she was locked up in a room. She has met Haryana Women’s Com­mis­sion with her com­plaint and has also writ­ten to Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khat­tar, the state DGP and the Kar­nal SP to ask for help.

Prat­i­bha Su­man, chair­per­son, Haryana Women Com­mis­sion, said the panel would of­fer all help. HTC
