INLD PLANS TO RELEASE 20,000 BLACK BALLOONS OVER RALLY: COPS ISSUE WARNING

Hindustan Times (Jalandhar) - - PUNJAB & HARYANA -

JIND : Police have warned opposition leaders against releasing black balloons over BJP national president Amit Shah’s rally venue on Thursday. The INLD have threatened to leave 20,000 black balloons as a protest against non-completion of the SYL canal and other issues.

Hisar range IGP Sanjay Kumar said he had spoken to experts who said such form of protest could cause security trouble for Shah’s chopper and should not be carried out at any cost. He said the police have warned the protesters to not go ahead with this form of protest.

Earlier, chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar said he was surprised to see opposition parties launching protests against their rally. “I think this is the first time in country’s history that political parties are protesting against rally of a political party. In a democracy, every party has the right to hold a rally,” he said.

AAP state president Naveen Jaihind accused the BJP of turning Haryana into Kashmir with deployment of armed forces at an interval of every three months. Jaihind said the state had declared emergency for one rally and put citizens’ safety at risk.
