27-yr-old dies of drug over­dose in Hoshiarpur, two booked for mur­der

HOSHIARPUR : The dis­trict po­lice have booked two per­sons for mur­der after 27-year-old Gur­man­gat­pal Singh, a res­i­dent of Tanda, died of drug over­dose in Tanda on Wed­nes­day.

Fa­ther of the de­ceased Ran­jit Singh, who lodged a com­plaint with the po­lice, said his son had gone with his friends on Tues­day evening but didn’t re­turn home. He said, “On Wed­nes­day morn­ing, we re­ceived a call from Gur­man­gat’s friend Neeta and he in­formed us that he was ly­ing un­con­scious.”

He said they took Gur­man­gat to a pri­vate hospi­tal in Hoshiarpur where he was de­clared brought dead. Ran­jit al­leged that Neeta, along with a friend, killed his son.

Ajit Singh, as­sis­tant sub-in­spec­tor (ASI)-cum-in­ves­ti­ga­tion of­fi­cer said on the state­ment of the de­ceased’s fa­ther, they have reg­is­tered a case un­der Sec­tion 302 (mur­der) of the IPC at the Tanda po­lice sta­tion.
