Govt hasn’t changed name of Karnal health varsity: Vij
KARNAL: Haryana health minister Anil Vij on Wednesday denied that the BJP government in the state has changed the name of the health university in Karnal from Kalpana Chawla to Pandit Deen Dyal Upadhyaya Health University .
“We did not change the name as the university was never named after Kalpana Chawla, but it was named after Deen Dayal Upadhyay. The government medical college of Karnal was named after Kalpana Chawla,” Vij said during an inspection of the ongoing work at the health university in Kutail village.
He said nursing and physiotherapy classes in the university will start from September this year and a hostel for students will also be constructed soon as the process of acquisition of land was under process. He also asked the contractors to complete the work before the deadline.
About the shortage of doctors in the state, he said that recruitment of doctors was underway and 523 doctors had joined recently in the state. But there is still a shortage of about 350 doctors and these posts will be filled soon, he added.
To a question about the government’s U-turn over the proposed cut in the award money of sportspersons working as state employees, Vij said, “This was not a U-turn. We are taking decisions in the favour of sportspersons and policies are being changed for the welfare of sportspersons.”
‘BJP TO CONTEST POLLS UNDER KHATTAR’S LEADERSHIP’
To a question, he said the BJP will contest the next assembly elections in Haryana under the leadership of chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar “as our national president (Amit Shah) has already made an announcement in this regard.” HTC
