Diwali has always been synonymous with lights, celebrations, and family. For actor Sonam Kapoor, too, one of the major highlights of the festival is spending time with her near and dear ones. In fact, Sonam has never missed a Diwali celebration with her family so far. A source says, “She is extremely close to her family, and so, just like in the past, wants to be with them this time as well.”

HT Café has learnt that Sonam has decided to take a five-day break from her shooting schedule of Veere Di Wedding (VDW) in Delhi to celebrate Diwali with her family back home in Mumbai. “It’s her favourite festival, so she will be back in the city in time,” says a source.

According to sources, Sonam will land in Mumbai on the evening of October 15. The source says, “She will shoot on October 16 and 17 for Sanjay Dutt’s biopic, and then will be busy with the Diwali celebrations from the 18th to 20th. After that, she will resume shooting for VDW on October 21 and 22 in Mumbai.”

It goes without saying that the Kapoor family is happy that Sonam will make it for their annual Diwali celebrations. “The VDW team has been at work constantly, but Sonam has requested for a break in advance so she wouldn’t miss Diwali,” says the source.

Sonam has been in Delhi for almost a month now to shoot for her new film, which also features Kareena Kapoor Khan, Swara Bhasker and Shikha Talsania. According to the source, after Diwali, she will fly to UK on October 23 to fulfil a professional commitment.

Sonam couldn’t be reached for a comment.
