One of India’s biggest film festivals, the International Film Festival of India (IFFI), is set to start soon, and superstar Shah Rukh Khan will be inaugurating the festival this year. The actor will be making the official welcome address at the event, which will be held in Goa. Shah Rukh says, “It’s an exciting time for world cinema, especially Indian cinema. It’s wonderful that our country has opened its doors, with the International Film Festival of India providing a platform to showcase some of the finest films from across the world. As IFFI gets into its 48th year, I look forward to inaugurating the festival and celebrating what I regard in many ways as the future of cinema. I would also like to extend a warm welcome to all the delegates to India with open arms, as only us Indians can.”

Shah Rukh recently lauded Information and Broadcasting Minister Smriti Irani’s efforts towards the festival. He also tweeted, “Great endeavour by I&B Minister Smriti Irani to make IFFI the most inclusive, relevant forum for Indian cinema. My unwavering support to you.”
