‘Aise na dekho’ by The Ink Band

Hindustan Times (Lucknow) - Live - - MY CITY -

Music: Agnel Roman Here’s a look at what went into the making of a hit song.

Irshad Kamil shares with us the story behind the second song of The Ink Band, ‘Aise na dekho’

Blend a poem and a song

“Initially, when we were in the composing stages of the song, the first words I uttered were ‘Aisa na dekho jaise pehle kabhi dekha hi na ho’ which raised a few concerns, one being particularly from our music director - Agnel Roman. He asked me ‘Agar usne kabhi pehle dekha hi nahi toh phir woh kyu dekhegi?’ which in its own is an eye opener, that shows us a few lines or words cannot tell us the entire tale. This was one of the major reasons for having taken the decision of setting up a poetry band. The Ink Band will be a way to put forth simple conversations and poetry with music and make sure the story is well conveyed,” says Irshad.

The favourite part

“The emotion of self-respect that is portrayed in the last portion of the poetry is something that has managed to grasp attention. ‘Aise na dekho’ has been so well received by the audiences that I am very thankful and we hope to deliver something fresh to our listeners in the future too,” he adds.

(‘Aise na dekho’ is on the top of the charts on Fever 104 FM this week)
