Acultural event was organised by International Performing Arts Festival (IPAF), recently at Sangeet Natak Akademi. The programme was classified into four performances including Bharatnatyam, Kathak, a folk and ghazal presentation.
The chief guest on the occasion was Dr Purnima Pandey, chairman of SNA. The event was anchored Dr Alka Nivedan who also greeted the guests as well as all the other guests. Talking about the organisation and the event, Nivedan said, “This was the third time IPAF organised such an event in Lucknow. The organisation aims at preserving rich culture and heritage through providing platform for different art forms. It supports Vayu Yoga, classical & folk dances as well as promotes specially abled artistes.”
The first performance of the evening was Bharatnatyam by Mohul Mukherji from Sheoraphuli.
Her performance described the contrasting characters of Lord Ganapati. Then a Kathak act was staged by award winning performer Geetanjali Sharma who also happens to be among the senior disciplines of SNA’s Guru Uma Dogra. Next was turn of Dwaipayan Kumar, a Delhi based vocal artiste, to entertain the audience along with Pawan on tabla, Saket on harmonium and others. Lastly Lucknow’s ghazal maestro Kamal Khan presented a collection songs that were appreciated by all. Khan who has been performing since last 25 years has shared the stage with renowned singers like Ghulam Ali, late Jagjeet Singh, Peenaz Masani and more.
