Acul­tural event was or­gan­ised by In­ter­na­tional Per­form­ing Arts Fes­ti­val (IPAF), re­cently at Sangeet Natak Akademi. The pro­gramme was clas­si­fied into four per­for­mances in­clud­ing Bharat­natyam, Kathak, a folk and ghazal pre­sen­ta­tion.

The chief guest on the oc­ca­sion was Dr Purnima Pandey, chair­man of SNA. The event was an­chored Dr Alka Nivedan who also greeted the guests as well as all the other guests. Talk­ing about the or­gan­i­sa­tion and the event, Nivedan said, “This was the third time IPAF or­gan­ised such an event in Lucknow. The or­gan­i­sa­tion aims at pre­serv­ing rich culture and her­itage through pro­vid­ing plat­form for dif­fer­ent art forms. It sup­ports Vayu Yoga, clas­si­cal & folk dances as well as pro­motes spe­cially abled artistes.”

The first per­for­mance of the evening was Bharat­natyam by Mo­hul Mukherji from She­o­ra­phuli.

Her per­for­mance de­scribed the con­trast­ing char­ac­ters of Lord Gana­p­ati. Then a Kathak act was staged by award winning per­former Gee­tan­jali Sharma who also hap­pens to be among the se­nior dis­ci­plines of SNA’s Guru Uma Do­gra. Next was turn of Dwai­payan Ku­mar, a Delhi based vo­cal artiste, to en­ter­tain the au­di­ence along with Pawan on tabla, Saket on har­mo­nium and oth­ers. Lastly Lucknow’s ghazal mae­stro Ka­mal Khan pre­sented a col­lec­tion songs that were ap­pre­ci­ated by all. Khan who has been per­form­ing since last 25 years has shared the stage with renowned singers like Ghu­lam Ali, late Jag­jeet Singh, Peenaz Masani and more.
