At least 10 persons were injured after a blast in a chemical factory that was operational in a rented accommodation on Nadan Mahal Road under the Bazarkhala police station on Friday.

The mishap took place in the house of one Emad who had let out the ground floor portion of his house to one Abhishek for running the chemical factory. Other tenants also live in the same house.

Though the factory was closed for the day, a sudden blast caused fire, which injured 10 people standing nearby.

Surendra, Abdul Faisal, Faiz and Abhishek were among those who sustained bur n injuries.

The people in the neighbourhood heard the loud bang and there was chaos in the narrow lane. One of the residents informed the police and the fire station about the incident. The blaze was doused by the fire tenders.

The samples from the factory were collected and sent for forensic examination to see which chemicals were used there, said Rajkumar, CO, Bazarkhala. A few days ago, fire had broke out at a plastic factory in Bazarkhala.

Residents alleged that several small factories were running in residential areas.
