Chem­i­cal fac­tory blast injures 10

At least 10 per­sons were in­jured after a blast in a chem­i­cal fac­tory that was op­er­a­tional in a rented ac­com­mo­da­tion on Nadan Ma­hal Road un­der the Bazarkhala po­lice sta­tion on Fri­day.

The mishap took place in the house of one Emad who had let out the ground floor por­tion of his house to one Ab­hishek for run­ning the chem­i­cal fac­tory. Other ten­ants also live in the same house.

Though the fac­tory was closed for the day, a sud­den blast caused fire, which in­jured 10 peo­ple stand­ing nearby.

Suren­dra, Ab­dul Faisal, Faiz and Ab­hishek were among those who sus­tained bur n in­juries.

The peo­ple in the neigh­bour­hood heard the loud bang and there was chaos in the nar­row lane. One of the res­i­dents in­formed the po­lice and the fire sta­tion about the in­ci­dent. The blaze was doused by the fire ten­ders.

The sam­ples from the fac­tory were col­lected and sent for foren­sic ex­am­i­na­tion to see which chem­i­cals were used there, said Ra­jku­mar, CO, Bazarkhala. A few days ago, fire had broke out at a plas­tic fac­tory in Bazarkhala.

Res­i­dents al­leged that sev­eral small fac­to­ries were run­ning in res­i­den­tial ar­eas.
