Lasers to play vi­tal role in den­tistry: Ex­pert

Lasers are fu­ture in den­tistry and their util­ity will in­crease with fur­ther re­search and hand­i­ness, said prof AP Tikku, while ad­dress­ing the in­au­gu­ral ses­sion of the two day work­shop on “Lat­est ad­vances in clin­i­cal den­tistry” on Fri­day.

The event is be­ing or­gan­ised by the depart­ment of oral and max­illo­fa­cial surgery at the King George’s Med­i­cal Univer­sity. “We saw com­put­ers as big as a room in its ini­tial days and to­day we have them on our palms. Sim­i­larly, the lasers that are big will be­come of the size of a stem and shall be an in­te­gral part of den­tistry,” said prof Tikku who also de­liv­ered lec­ture on ap­pli­ca­tion of Lasers on Den­tine hy­per­sen­si­tiv­ity.
