Vis­i­tors go­ing to this place can hardly make out the name of the of­fice. Rea­son: The sign­board is rusted and the writ­ing on it has nearly faded. Loaded with work of al­low­ing clear­ances to all big es­tab­lish­ments - both com­mer­cial and res­i­den­tial in the state, the of­fice faces an acute staff crunch. There are only about four of­fi­cers and about a hand­ful other staff mem­bers who are han­dling the nu­mer­ous formalities re­gard­ing clear­ances and other en­vi­ron­ment re­lated ini­tia­tives, said sources Boast­ing of pro­mot­ing en­vi­ron­ment-friendly ini­tia­tives, the of­fice has not even main­tained its lawns for a long time. The grass has not been trimmed and the ponds are ei­ther fun­gus filled or have been left dry.
