He’ll bring ‘achche din’ for them, feel Kashi weavers

-

The weavers’ community in Varanasi, who are predominantly Muslims, have shed their antipathy towards the PM and hope that Modi will be able to bring good days (achche din) for them. The packed gathering at the pandal at Lalpur where Modi laid the foundation stone of the trade facilitation centre and crafts museum consisted weavers of Varanasi.

Wazir Mohammad sitting in the front row was hopeful that Modi’s initiative would certainly yield positive results for marginalised weavers of Kashi.

“It does not matter to which party PM belongs. Now, Narendra Modi is the PM of the country. When he is reaching out to weavers, then we must also extend him full support in executing projects for weavers,” said Mohammad. Sitting next to him, Gulzar Ahmad was also hopeful of a turnaround in fortunes of poor weavers.

“The PM has announced that any financial assistance in future will be directly remitted into bank accounts. This will check fake societies of weavers that in the past have pocketed all financial aids given to weavers by the state and the union governments,” Ahmad said.

The weavers’ community here had openly sided with AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal in the last Lok Sabha polls.
