Band and baaja is something common in every marriage but a groom landing at his would-be bride’s place in a chopper is something uncommon.

This is what exactly happened when one Akhilesh Singh, a native of Santhava village in Sarnath here, flew to Ramarepur village in Sakaldeeha area of Chandauli district in a helicopter for his marriage.

His father Vijay Singh, a for mer village head, spent quite a sum to make his son’s marriage memorable. First he took permission of the district administration for the landing of the chopper. Then he got a helipad constructed outside the bride’s village. “I got permission for chopper’s landing recently. Thereafter, I deposited

Rs 2.25 lakh as expenses on security of the chopper to the district administration,” Singh claimed.

He extended his thanks to the district administration for giving him permission.

“Mar riage i s once- i n- a- lifetime event. I spent money to make my son’s marriage unique. In this area, Akhilesh, a software engineer, is possibly the first bridegroom to reach the bride’s village in a chopper,” Singh added.

A special helipad was created on the outskirts of Ramarepur village where the chopper carrying the bridegroom and his father landed. Sakaldeeha police station in-charge inspector Ajay Awasthi along with his team protected the helipad and kept people away from it.

Two police personnel were deployed for the protection of the helicopter. A large number of people from surrounding villages gathered to see the chopper.

Akhilesh is tying knot with Juhi Singh who is only daughter of Virendra Singh, a farmer.
