Murder accused alleges assault in jail, official denies charge
A murder accused alleged that Aligarh jail officials assaulted him and paraded him naked on the premises after he turned down their demand for bribery. The complainant was identified as Mohit Chaudhary, who is in jail on the charge of murdering a member of bikers’ gang. Taking a strong note of a petition filed by Mohit’s lawyers on Wednesday, court has directed the jail superintendent to get medical examination of the complainant done and submit it on April 23. However, Braj Raj Sharma, jail superintendent, said the allegations were baseless and fabricated. He said no prisoner had been beaten up by jail staff. Mohit Chaudhry of Begum Bagh is in jail on the charge of murdering Kaushalendra alias Prince, who was a member of a bikers’ gang. On Wednesday, a petition was filed in the ADJ -13 court by lawyers Dipak Bansal and Pravin Nath Sharma, alleging that Mohit had been assaulted in jail.
