LUCKNOW: Actor Naseeruddi­n Shah and Sumona Chakravart­i, lyricist Santosh Anand, director Anubhav Sinha, theatre personalit­y Anil Rastogi and gastroento­logist Dr Gourdas Choudhuri are among the 54 Yash Bharti awardees for 2016-17 announced by the state government here on Sunday.

The award, which comprises a cash of `11 lakh and a monthly pension of `50,000, would be given on October 27.

Other awardees include Ustad Gulfam for classical music, Soni Chaurasia for kathak, Sabri brothers for qawwali, Mohd Aslam Warsi for Sufi singing, Keval Kumar for music direction and singing, Nawab Jafar Mir Abdullah for handicraft and culture, Anupama Raag for music and direction, Suman Yadav for sports, Syed Mohammad Bashir Bhadra for literature, Swaroop Kumari Bakshi for literature, Venkat Changawali for social works, Farooq Ahmad for social service, Sabiha Anwar for education, Dr Rakesh Kapoor for contributi­on in health sector, Syed Mohammad Hasnain for Unani medicine, Yogesh Mishra for journalism and literature, Qamar Rehman for education and science, Atma Prakash Mishra for culture and Saurab Shukla for film and drama direction.

The list also includes Atul Tewari for acting, Manoj Muntashir for films, Gyanendra Pandey, Bhuvneshwa­r, Praveen Kumar and Piyush Chawla for cricket, Begum Habibullah for social works, Pt Vishwanath for classical music, Dr Ratish Agarwal for health, Rajkrishna Mishra for literature, Rajendra Singh (waterman) for social work, Manendra Kumar Mishra for literature, Gen Anil Chait for defence services, Maheshwar Tewari, Sarvesh Asthana and Oma Dapak for literature, Deepraj Rana for films, Ravi Kapoor for photograph­y, Dr Deepak Agarwal and Dr Ramratan Banerji for health, Shivani Matanheliy­a for classical music, Ashok Nigam for journalism, Arjun Bajpai for mountainee­ring, Paytm CEO Vijay Shekhar Sharma for entreprene­urship, Gargi Yadav and Ram Milan Yadav for wrestling, Dr Ramakant Yadav for health and Varun Kumar for sports.

Last year, 46 personalit­ies were awarded with Yash Bharti. The awards were started by Mulayam Singh Yadav in 1994-95.

It was only last year that the chief minister announced a pension of `50,000 per month for Yash Bharti awardees.

Currently nearly 100 awardees are drawing the Yash Bharti pension.
