District inspector of schools (Lucknow) Umesh Tripathi has been transferred as deputy principal, DIET, Unnao. Mukesh Kumar Singh, assistant education director (sports) at the camp office of education directorate in Lucknow is the new DIoS.

Principal secretary Jitendra Kumar, in his order, said both officers should take charge with immediate effect. Tripathi is said to be removed on charges of disproportionate assets.

The state vigilance wing had recently lodged an FIR of prevention of corruption act against Tripathi.

Sub-inspector Abhishek Tiwari, in charge of Vibhuti Khand police station, said the FIR was lodged by Ram Narain Ram, an inspector with vigilance wing.

He said the vigilance wing had conducted an open inquiry into Tripathi’s disproportionate assets and lodged the FIR after finding substantial evidences against him.

The inquiry against Tripathi was pending since a Jaunpur resident Bal Chand sought open vigilance inquiry against the latter in 2012.

District inspector of schools Umesh Tripathi was placed under suspension in Samajwadi Party’s regime for allegedly not coordinating well in the chief minister’s laptop distribution programme and remaining absent from duty.

Tripathi, who frequently figured in controversies for different reasons, was said to have political links, which he allegedly used to get prime postings. He was serving his fourth term in Lucknow.
