10 HELD FOR RUCKUS AT SSP’S HOUSE

MEERUT: Police arrested 10 people on Saturday night in connection with the incident of stone pelting at a procession taken out on Dr Ambedkar’s jayanti in Saharanpur on Thursday and the subsequent ruckus created at SSP Love Kumar’s residence. Around six police teams raided different locations in village Doodhli and made the arrests. They included four on charges of pelting stones on the procession and six for being a part of the mob that went to the SSP’s residence and damaged the officer’s name plate and CCTV camera. The mob created hue and cry for hours outside the SSP’s residence in the presence of BJP MP Raghav Lakhanpal and a few MLAs. JP Shahi, DIG of Saharanpur range said, “Perpetrato­rs were arrested after being identified through videos. Over a dozen were involved. 10 have been arrested and efforts are underway to apprehend the remaining.” Police registered two cases in which BJP MP Raghav Lakhanpal, MLA Pradeep Chaudhary and Brijesh Singh have been named along with a crowd.
