Saints lead events in Sangam city

ALLAHABAD: Seers led the Internatio­nal Yoga Day events in Allahabad as it was directly relayed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and chief minister Yogi Adityanath in Lucknow, on Wednesday morning.

The PM appreciate­d the enthusiasm of people as they gathered in thousands to attend the yoga camp on Parade ground near Sangam.

Over 13,000 people from all walks of life came together to celebrate the occasion. Yoga guru and spiritual leader Swami Anandgiri conducted the session.

Senior officials of police and district administra­tion including divisional commission­er Ashish Goel, SSP Anand Kulkarni, officiatin­g district magistrate Samuel Paul N, and Allahabad Developmen­t Authority’s VC Bhanu Chandra Goswami performed yoga.

Enthusiast­ic supporters, mainly youth and seers, gathered near Sangam to catch a glimpse of the Prime Minister and the UP chief minister on LED screens.

Many youngsters and children attended the camp by sitting on water tankers that were brought to the venue.

President of Akhil Bharatiya Akhara Parishad Swami Narendragi­ri conducted a special camp for saints, seers and students of Vedic school.
