OZONE LAYER CON­SER­VA­TION DAY HELD AT RE­GIONAL SCIENCE CITY

LUC­KNOW: Re­gional Science City, Luc­know in col­lab­o­ra­tion with Di­rec­torate of En­vi­ron­ment, UP com­mem­o­rated the I’nter­na­tional Ozone Layer Con­ser­va­tion Day’ on Septem­ber 15 and 16. On the con­clud­ing day of the cel­e­bra­tion on Satur­day, writ­ten quiz con­tests on ‘Ozone and Our En­vi­ron­ment’ were or­gan­ised for school stu­dents and in a col­lage mak­ing con­test stu­dents pre­sented their col­lage on the topic ‘Ozone Layer Con­ser­va­tion: Our du­ties’ and thereby gave mes­sage about our re­spon­si­bil­ity to pro­tect the en­vi­ron­ment. Be­sides, stu­dents from gov­ern­ment schools from ru­ral ar­eas vis­ited the Re­gional Science City, Luc­know and took part in a paint­ing con­test and pup­pet show or­gan­ised dur­ing the event. PK Sri­vas­tava, ex se­nior sci­en­tist re­tired from CSIR-CDRI, Luc­know rep­re­sented through en­ter­tain­ing car­toons on how the ozone de­ple­tion is af­fect­ing our cli­mate and en­vi­ron­ment and threw light on the im­por­tance of ozone layer and its con­ser­va­tion.
