ALLAHABAD:The niece of a former state minister accused her husband and in-laws of trying to set her afire, police said. She had been living separately from her husband for more than two years.
Fauzia Jamal, niece of BSP leader Javed Iqbal, was married to businessman Akeel Ahmed of Kareli in 2009. The couple had two children before they developed differences and started living separately.
In-charge of women’s police station Kalpana Gautam said Fauzia claimed that her husband called her to his home for a compromised on September 13 but when she reached there, her in-laws attacked her and tried to set her on fire. “Fauzia said she managed to escape from her in-laws’ house.
