Hindustan Times (Lucknow) - - UTTARPRADESH -

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers will greet domestic and foreign tourists visiting iconic ghats of Varanasi on Sunday evening as part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday celebrations. Sixty-seven out of the 84 ghats will sparkle in the glow of earthen lamps on the occasion. Kashi region BJP spokesperson Sanjay Bhardwaj said, “The BJP members will welcome tourists at the ghats and tell them about PM Modi’s birthday celebrations and developmental works carried out in the spiritual city by him.” The celebration will continue from dawn to dusk. A special event will take place at Assi Ghat where Modi wielded a spade to remove silt and launch the Varanasi leg of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan on November 7, 2014. A 67 kilogram laddoo will also be distributed among the locals. Union railway minister Piyush Goyal is likely to attend the event.
