H1N1 cases in India crossed
31,000 by September 10, up from 1,786 by the end of 2016.

together account for over one-third (35.8%) of India’s H1N1 cases and 58.5% of all deaths.
India witnessed
its worst swine flu outbreak in 2009-10, when the disease affected close to 50,000 people and killed more than 2,700.
Swine flu causes
symptoms of fever, cough, breathlessness, lethargy, headache and nausea.
People are infectious
from the day before they develop symptoms until up to a week after.
People at risk include
children under 5, adults over 65, pregnant women, people with asthma, neurological conditions, lung disease, heart disease, diabetes, kidney or liver disorders and weakened immunity.
