DGP: 40 CPMF companies to man state during polls
LUCKNOW: As many as 40 companies of central para-military forces (CPMF) have been sanctioned to the UP police during the local bodies’ elections but they will not be deployed on election duties. They will be controlling law and order, communal tensions and riot like situations during this period.
“As the state police force like civil police, provincial armed constabulary and home guards will be entirely deployed for election duties, the CPMF provided by the central will do other duties,” said Anand Kumar, additional director general (ADG) of police, Law and Order, while addressing media.
He said the CPMF would be made available from November 20 to December 5. The ADG said at least 1423 check posts and barriers had come up on international, inter-state and inter districts borders to check corrupt practices during the elections.
