Indira Gandhi did a lot for country: Azad
RAE BARELI: An event marking the birth centenary celebrations of the late PM Indira Gandhi was held here on Tuesday. Speaking on the occasion, Congress national general secretary Ghulam Nabi Azad said the former PM did a lot of the progress of the country. Enumerating some of her works, he said she was instrumental in nationalising banks and making Sikkim a state. She also played a pivotal role in the creation of Bangladesh, he added. Party workers and leaders from Rae Bareli, Amethi, Sultanpur and Fatehpur took part in the programme. State Congress president Raj Babbar besides senior party leaders Pramod Tiwari and Dr Sanjay Singh were also present on the occasion.
