Complaint against Cong candidate for misusing Bhim Army chief’s name

MEERUT: Bhim Army has lodged a complaint against Congress candidate in civic polls Chaudhary Inam Shakir at Nakud police station of Saharanpur for misusing the name of the organisation’s chief Chandrashekhar alias Ravan to woo Dalits.

Saharanpur SSP Babloo Kumar said the police had received a complaint from Bhim Army’s assembly seat in-charge Rohit Raj Gautam and it was being examined for further action. In his complaint, Gautam said the Congress candidate for Ambheta nagar panchayat chairman Chaudhary Inam Shakir misused the name of Chandrashekhar in his publicity material to attract Dalit voters.

He said Bhim Army was a nonpolitical organisation and Chandrashekhar’s name was used without his consent. He demanded legal action against the Congress candidate as he had violated the model code of conduct.

Congress leader Imran Masood said,“Congress is a party capable of contesting election on its own and lodging complaint against party candidate will weaken the movement of Bhim Army because we always supported them in their crisis.”
