Urban development minister Suresh Khanna gave a diplomatic reply. “I do not say that there was any lapse on the part of the irrigation department. All that I can say is we are fully aware of the crisis and are taking all possible steps to deal with it,” he said.
Though the irrigation department has claimed to have released water into the canal, the residents may still have to wait for a day or two to have access to normal water supply. “Generally, it takes 36-48 hours for supply to be normal after water is released into the lake,” Verma said.
